North Bergen woman pleads guilty to bribing corrections officers with marijuana and cellphones

Karen Adrianzen, of North Bergen, pleaded guilty to conspiring to pay bribes to Essex County Jail guards, U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman said Thursday.

From 2013 to 2014, Adrianzen delivered cash bribes, cellphones and marijuana to corrections officers who then passed them to by Jason Perez, a federal pretrial detainee at the jail, who directed the scheme, according to authorities.

North Bergen Pastor convicted of child molestation on the loose!

The North Bergen pastor convicted of molesting a 13-year-old boy just shy of a year ago may have left the country after skipping out on his sentencing 10 months ago.

Gregorio Martinez, 48, who was also referred to as a prophet and exorcist during his trial, was convicted by a

Hudson County jury on Feb. 25, 2015, of aggravated criminal sexual contact with a minor.

“He has been a fugitive from justice since his conviction,” Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.

A source with knowledge of the case said it is believed that Martinez, who faced up to five years in prison, left the country after he was convicted.

North Bergen man arrested in Lyndhurst after police car chase

A police pursuit that started in East Rutherford and ended in Lyndhurst with a car crash, resulted in the apprehension of two women and a man who allegedly stole a car.

The driver, Juan Blas, 21, of North Bergen, was apprehended in a rear yard of a home along the 700 block of Ten Eyck Avenue.

He was charged with receiving stolen property, eluding and flight from arrest. Blas’ bail was set at $27,500 with no 10-percent option and he was transported to the Bergen County Jail, Minda said.

North Bergen Police foot pursuit leads to 2 arrest for armed robbery on 43rd Street

When Hudson TV called NB Police for confirmation, an official who is not authorized to give statements said that everyone was at the scene and this matter was under investigation. North Bergen man involved in knife fight

Thaab Abdallah, 22, of North Bergen, was arrested on January 21 on charges of possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, unlawful possession of a weapon and aggravated assault, police said.

On January 21 at approximately 4:11 p.m., a West New York police officer on routine patrol observed two men involved in a physical altercation on 64th Street and Bergenline Avenue, authorities said.

At that point, the police officer exited the marked police vehicle and approached the two men fighting, noticing one combatant was armed with a knife, officials said.

Guttenberg: Man dies after he falls down Galaxy Towers elevator shaft

Federal authorities are investigating the death of an elevator repair worker who fell seven stories down a shaft in northern New Jersey.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration spokeswoman Leni Fortson says it happened Tuesday at the Galaxy Towers in Guttenberg. The condominium complex is composed of three octagonal towers that each rise 415 feet over the banks of the Hudson River.

North Bergen man guilty of human trafficking

Charles P. Torres, 56, of North Bergen, who prostituted a teenage girl in Belleville and other northern New Jersey municipalities has been sentenced to 20 years in prison, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

The victim was allegedly coerced and manipulated as a prostitute for Torres from May 2013 to August 2013, during which time she was transported from different locations in Belleville and North Bergen to various hotels and apartments where she was forced to have sex with men for money.

Torres himself explained to the court that he had recruited and enticed the then-15-year-old girl to serve as an underage prostitute in both Essex and Hudson counties. He also advertised the victim online, and accepted payments from adult males who had sex with the girl. He added that he himself had committed a sexual assault against the victim, and in addition had photographed her in sexual situations.

Torres had 14 previous arrests and five prior convictions, most for prostitution, and is also now required to register as a sex offender, pursuant to Megan’s Law.
