North Bergen artist, 070 Shake, returns home to sold out concert the night of album release

“I’m from North Bergen!” 19 year-old singer 070 Shake proudly tells the sold out crowd at New York City’s Webster Hall.

Shake and her group “070” released the 070 Project: Chapter 1 the same day of her concert which included some of Shake’s most well-known work such as “Honey” and “Thru the Speakers”.

Phi who is featured on “Thru The Speakers” and also a North Bergen resident tells HudPost “the crowd was beautiful”. Phi performed earlier in the night, showcasing his Hudson County tribute song “Bergenline Flows”.

Towards the end of the night Shake asked the crowd if she could bring out a friend before she revealed A$AP Ferg who performed his song “New Level”.

The North Bergen artist has been exploding on the hip-hop scene having been featured with grammy nominated artist Fabolous and even rumored to have been signed to Grammy award winner Kanye West.

North Bergen makes a cameo on SNL

North Bergen Target makes a cameo on Saturday Night Live in a “Thanksgiving Commercial” skit.

“Target’s got everything you need this Thanksgiving, including a big, empty parking lot you can just come sit in for a sec,” SNL jokes.

The big box department store opened it’s doors in 2004.

Sacco said that he was pleased to see an area that was once a vacant and deserted factory, a total eyesore, transformed into a viable shopping area. It’s all part of the plan to revitalize that portion of Tonnelle Avenue, an area that was designated in dire need of redevelopment in 1999.

Freeholder Vainieri kicks off 2nd annual Hudson County Fair

Freeholder Anthony Vainieri kicked off the 2nd annual Hudson Country Fair at James J. Braddock park.

Freeholder Vainieri describes the atmosphere as, “A beautiful night as families enjoyed the games, rides and good food,”

This year’s fair included the addition of a 90’ Ferris wheel.

“I promised to bring community events to our neighborhoods. I started the first ever Farmers Market, Arts Fair and brought back our carnival that we had when I was growing up,” says Freeholder Vainieri.

North Bergen musician's song debuts on flagship radio station, Hot 97

North Bergen high school alumni and local musician, Christopher Macias, better known as Chris Major, has his song “Safe with Me” debuted on the well known radio station, Hot 97.

Hot 97 is a radio station based in New York City under the corporate ownership of Emmis Communications. The station broadcasts on 97.1 FM.

The song was introduced by Hot 97’s DJ Drewski. “We put on for the tri-state, from the biggest names to the newest names,” says DJ Drewski. “New Chris Major, Safe with me, Hot 97 the new movement!”

“I grew up listening to Hot 97, now we are live on Hot 97!” says Chris Major.

2nd Annual Arts Fair in North Bergen's Braddock Park attracts 4,000 in attendance

On June 12th the 2nd annual Arts Fair in North Bergen’s James J. Braddock Park attracted up to 4,000 people who took advantage of the beautiful weather to enjoy the festivities.

“Thank you to all the volunteers and most importantly our parks employees that worked so hard and throughout the entire day keeping every little detail attended to,” says Hudson County Freeholder Anthony Vainieri

The festival featured steamroller printmaking, artist market, food trucks, sculpture, community projects and music.

“This year’s Arts Festival was definitely better than last years. The jazz addition was great! “ says North Bergen resident Shayra Cruz.
